    After breakfast, set out with your private guide to explore Egypt’s ancient wonders:

    • Giza Plateau: Stand in awe before the mighty pyramids. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, built around 4,600 years ago, rose nearly 480 feet and remained the tallest structure on Earth for millennia. Nearby, Khafre’s pyramid and Menkaure’s smaller pyramid complete the trio, watched over by the enigmatic Sphinx. You’ll also visit the Valley Temple where ancient embalmers performed mummification rituals.

    After breakfast, immerse yourself in Cairo’s rich cultural heritage:

    • Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM): Located near the Giza pyramids, the new GEM is the world’s largest archaeological museum devoted to a single civilization. Most of its galleries are now open, displaying more than 100,000 artifacts. A towering statue of Ramses II greets visitors in the entrance hall, and the museum is preparing to display all of the treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb together for the first time.
    • Cairo Citadel & Mohamed Ali Mosque: Continue to the Citadel of Salah al‑Din, a medieval fortress that commands panoramic views over Cairo. Within its walls stands the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, known as the Alabaster Mosque, whose gleaming marble panels, large central dome and twin minarets are an icon of Cairo’s skyline.
    • Khan Al‑Khalili Bazaar: Wander through the labyrinthine alleys of Khan Al‑Khalili, a bustling bazaar founded in the 14th century. The market’s narrow lanes are perfumed with exotic spices, the air alive with the clink of metalwork and the calls of merchants selling jewelry, textiles and traditional crafts.

    Travel in a comfortable, air‑conditioned vehicle to the Mediterranean city of Alexandria. Highlights include:

    • Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa: Descend into a multi‑level necropolis carved in the 2nd century CE, where Egyptian, Greek and Roman artistic traditions blend seamlessly.

    • Temple of Hatshepsut: Visit the extraordinary mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el‑Bahari. Its terraces rise in harmony with the cliffs and feature elegant colonnades.
    • Colossi of Memnon: Stop at the two towering statues of Amenhotep III that once guarded his mortuary temple and were famed in antiquity for emitting musical sounds after an earthquake.

    Return to the cruise, enjoy lunch, and begin sailing toward Edfu

    • Temple of Horus at Edfu: This well‑preserved temple, built during the Ptolemaic era, features towering pylons and richly carved walls depicting the mythical battle between Horus and Seth.
    • Kom Ombo: A unique dual temple dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek and Horus the Elder. Its symmetrical layout has twin entrances and sanctuaries, and mummified crocodiles are displayed on site.

    – Aswan City Tour & Flight to Cairo

    • Aswan High Dam: Completed in 1970, this rock‑fill dam stands 111 meters high and stretches almost four kilometers across the Nile. It created Lake Nasser, which stores a vast reservoir of water and supplies much of Egypt’s hydroelectric power.
    • Philae Temple: Dedicated to Isis, Osiris and Horus and built during the Ptolemaic period. Its reliefs show Isis resurrecting Osiris and giving birth to Horus. Threatened by rising waters, the entire complex was moved stone by stone to nearby Agilkia Island in the 1960s–70s.
    • Unfinished Obelisk: In Aswan’s granite quarry, see the colossal obelisk commissioned by Hatshepsut. It would have stood 42 meters high and weighed about 1,200 tons; cracks in the granite halted work, leaving the obelisk still attached to the bedrock.
